Storage Units
Do not store anything of emotional or sentimental value
Leave an Isle way down the center of unit so you can get to the back of your unit
Store frequently needed items in front of unit
Put pallets on floor
Lay a tarp or heavy plastic loosely over just the very top of of all stored items.
Use covers to protect furniture, mattress and box springs and boxes
Stack items floor to ceiling using dressers and tables to stack boxes and lighter items upward
While you're not sitting on couch cushions, something breakable should, like glass décor.
Store long items vertically so they take up less room
Store glass and mirrors between mattresses. This will also keep them protected.
Remove wheels from everything so it doesn’t move around.
Start at the back of the unit, using the front area for odd shaped objects
Chairs make the perfect chairs for other chairs, so stack away.
Group like items as much as possible, even if they’re not on a shelf.
Use hand carts to save your back and your time.
Avoid using plastic garbage bags for storage, as they can promote mildew.
Leave 1' between your stuff and door in case we need to fix door or latch.
Outside Storage
The single greatest way to protect your car when storing it outside is to buy a high-quality car cover. Make sure the cover accounts for moisture, preferably by incorporating ventilation or by using a wicking "dri-fit" material, as covers that trap in moisture can actually cause more damage to your vehicle. If you decide against using a car cover, there are a few other measures you can take to protect your car from the elements.
With outdoor car storage, the sun can damage the car's paint, causing it to fade over time. One way to protect against the sun is by waxing it, which will act as a protective coating against the sun as well as dirt and dust
Direct sunlight over a long period of time will cause your tires to crack and lose their elasticity, making them dangerous to drive on. The best way to prevent sun damage to your tires is by keeping them covered and out of the sun.
If there's already damage to your paint, you'll want to touch that up before you store your car outside for a long period of time. Any scratches or pits, particularly any that have reached bare metal, are likely to worsen under pressure from the elements, and your car can begin to develop patches of rust.
Car Storage Units
10x10 units will only work for motorcycles and very small cars.
Compact and small cars can fit into a 10x15 and 10x20 space. We recommend you measure your vehicle to ensure it fits into the space you choose.
Full size vehicles will fit into a 10x20 and 10X30 space. Always measure your vehicle first, taking into consideration length, width, added mirrors or hood ornaments.
Be sure to note the width of the door. If vehicle is wider than the door, it is not getting into the space.
